Tell Us About Your Journey in the Fragrance Industry
I’ve been working in the fragrance industry for decades. I specialize in laundry products, but I’ve worked in fine fragrances for a long time as well, so I have atypical expertise in knowing how fragrances are created and how to translate them into laundry products.
I trained in a perfumery school in Paris and then I finished my training being taught by different perfumers at a fragrance house. There, I learned how to create fragrances that perform at every touchpoint—meaning that they smell good when you open the box, when you wash with them, and when you wear them.
What Inspires the Scents That Laundry Sauce Creates?
There are many ways I’m inspired to create these fragrances. Sometimes it’s the hero ingredient, sometimes it’s the destination, and sometimes it’s as simple as the color of the box. For each product, there’s a story. Sometimes I have an idea, sometimes the Laundry Sauce team has an idea, and we develop these fragrances together. It’s a journey that we take until it’s absolutely perfect for the vision we have.
Can You Give Us Some Insight into the Testing Process Behind Laundry Sauce Fragrances?
The testing process is very important. First, we come up with the inspiration, and once we’re happy with where the theme is going, we have to do some tweaks until the product is perfect. For that, we have a laundry room, and we do loads and loads—and that means that we smell the laundry when it’s wet, when it’s dry, three days later, we take it home, we try it ourselves. And then we continue to tweak it until it’s absolutely perfect.
What Separates Laundry Sauce’s Fragrances from Other Brands?
Because of the way Laundry Sauce invests in its fragrances, the raw materials I can use are exceptional—they’re top quality, they’re unique. You would never find those ingredients in regular laundry products on the market. For example, I don’t think there’s a single laundry product in the world that’s using natural tuberose.
Tell Us a Little About Oregon Mint, the Latest Laundry Sauce Fragrance
Oregon Mint is an absolutely unique fragrance because I was able to use truly premium natural ingredients, such as Cascade mint oil, which is usually only reserved for fine fragrances. It was blended with notes of grapefruit, so the freshness between that and the mint gives you an exhilarating effect. It’s an incredibly refreshing, bright, and happy smell. Your linens will smell fresh and clean but in an elegant and sophisticated way.
